TBR Thursday: My Lady Jane

22840421

It’s a historical fiction novel with a comical twist about actually people a looooonnnnnggg time ago.  Quite frankly what else could you need in a book?  For myself personally not really anything else but it is a book that requires a certain craving behind it.  You know?

Like if I were looking to cry over a beautiful love story then I would assume that My Lady Jane wouldn’t be what I was looking for (though you know what they say when you assume…).

Basically what I’m getting at is I just haven’t found myself in the mood to read this book yet.  I’ve literally read the first 10 pages several times but then I usually end up reading something else because I know I want to read it I just haven’t been in the right mind space to do it yet.

But I will do it eventually.  Hopefully!

Happy Reading,

Meghan

TBR Thursday: The Making of The Masters

428515

Alright so this weeks TBR Thursday pick is a bit strange I’ll admit, but I’m trying to read more nonfiction books.  And because the Masters is often watched by most people in my family (at least my grandfather, my mother, and myself) I want to understand more about why this particular golf tournament became the ultimate event in golf.  Granted I don’t usually watch any other golfing events except for the Masters, I was curious to learn more as I tuned in at the beginning of April to watch 2018 tournament.  When I went searching for a book to find out more, The Making of The Masters was one of the top choices.  While I’ll be rather surprised to finish this book if I do ever get to reading it, I do hope I might learn something along the way.

TBR Thursday: Radio Girls

26891545

Do you ever just get into a reading mood where you’re only in the mood to read a certain genre or story line over and over again?  Well mine lately has been books set in the early 19th century, both fictional and nonfictional that focus on women during that time.

While I’ve mostly been focusing on books set during World War II I’ve been wanting to find something a little different.  So when I was browsing through goodreads to decide what I should add to my to read list I was recommended Radio Girls.  This book is set during the very beginning of the BBC radio age in 1926.  It follows Maisie Musgraves as she navigates this new world of radio and the fast pace energy that comes with it.

I’ve never read anything like it and look forward to getting my hands on it soon.  I’m going on vacation for my birthday in June and think this will make a great book to bring with me.

Have you been in a reading mood lately?  Let me know in the comments below.

TBR Thursday: I’m Bringing it Back!

Sunset chaser

I’m bringing back TBR Thursday!

I had originally gotten rid of it because I was barely finding the time to get all my book reviews up, yet alone attempting to add anything else.  But I have decided it is time to get this post series back up and running again.

I miss being able to share books I’m anticipating to read and I love sharing it this way rather than attempting to make a list of what I plan to read within the next month.  This also feels like a unique way of showing my TBR list and explaining why I want to read each book.

Raise your hand if your excited for TBR Thursdays again and be on the lookout for the first one tomorrow!

Happy Reading,

Meghan

TBR Thursday: The Last of August

TBR Thursday Layout

It only seems appropriate that after reviewing the first book A Study in Charlotte on Monday, that my next TBR pick would be the second book The Last of August.  Sometimes I’m a bit slow in keeping up with a series.  I often get distracted by other books and then too much time goes by between books and I lose the plot along the way.  Having read the summary of The Last of August I don’t think I can afford to not read the book soon. It seems to take place immediately after A Study in Charlotte and I’m excited to see where Brittany Cavallaro takes Jamie and Charlotte next.

Happy Reading,

TBR Thursday: The Fallen Kingdom

TBR Thursday (2)

In my favorite reads of 2016, I mentioned that books one and two in The Falconer Trilogy were my #1 favorites. Well, I have been anticipating the release of The Fallen Kingdom ever since I finished The Vanishing Throne last winter. And trust me I feel like this has been a long wait.  It releases on June 13th and I’ve already pre-ordered it, so I expect to find it in my mailbox next Monday.  Though I’ll have wait a bit to read it since I’ve started two new classes this past Monday and they are already taking up all my valuable reading time. Oh well, I suppose that’s a first world problem for you.

Are any of you anticipating a new release this summer?

Happy Reading,

Meghan

P.S. I’m testing out creating my own graphics for the blog. I’m working on a new format since I didn’t really know what to expect when I started The Book of Meghan last year and wanted to give my blog a much needed makeover. So you may notice some changes over the next few weeks.

TBR Thursday: Adulthood is a Myth

25855506

I was first introduced to Sarah Andersen’s comic through Tumblr like I sure 99.9% of people were. I really like this comic because I relate to it pretty well.  And as I decided to chose this book for my TBR Thursday I noticed it’s currently only $4.99 on kindle, and had to weep a little because sadly I had to put myself on a book-buying ban for the the entire month of May. Boooo!

But the book bans probably a good idea for me because I have the problem of buying a book and not reading it. And I’m getting bad about looking at my overflowing bookshelf and claiming I have nothing to read! It’s like owning too much clothes and saying I have nothing to wear, which I have that problem too. So basically I’m the girl with nothing to read and nothing to wear while violently trying to stuff another book in my bookcase while squeaking into my tightly packed closest. Oh my first world problems!

Anyway I’d love to read all the comics in Adulthood is a Myth but it will have wait 26 more days. Not that I’m counting.

Happy Reading,

Meghan
